Forget about some hidden gems within Disney's direct-to-DVD sequels, "ONE DANCE" shouldn't hit as hard as it did for a song in a promotional CD for little girls. It's so good that it was thought to be a deleted song lmaoo. "I Remember" from Ariel's Beginning may not be on Spotify, but at least this one is haha. I'm telling 'ya that when I found out a bunch of Disney Princess songs in Spotify (them as a group like the Tea/Party and Christmas theme or individually like "Tiana and her Princess Friends" or Ariel's and Sebastian's), they're just really plain and obvious for kids with fun melodies because they were directly singing to them (love that most of the OG singing voices are there tho!). I did vibe with "I'm Happy" by Cinderella and "Mulan's trip" but "One Dance," although from a different album just hits different even from the ballads from "Tiana and her Princess Friends". Other ballads from said album just also has the Princesses talk directly to the kids, and even Ariel's other songs from the album "One Dance" was from speaks directly to the listeners as well (tho Jodi's voice makes it magical anyway lol), but not One Dance. It's like Ariel's inner thoughts from the movie, and it reminds me of "If Only" from the musical; no wonder many mistook it as a deleted song.

Anyway, I just had to share despite knowing all these songs and albums for more than one year already lol. I was streaming Disney love songs, and this played in my playlist; of course I had to make a commentary lmaoo. Also, one edit just made me ship Eric and Ariel more than I did in the movie itself lol.

JUST WATCHED THE LITTLE MERMAID LETS FUCKING GO!!

ok quick opinions before i go to bed <3 (spoilers ahead? if you don't know the plot of the little mermaid?? who are you?)

the tails. oh fuck me the tails. OH GOD THEYRE BEAUTIFULLL. also the mermaids themselves are just incredibly stunning. the fact that they're all different races is sweet as well. i think they did such a good thing with the cast. i assume over half the cast was black?? and also there were asians etc etc

URSULA. MMMM. THAT WAS GOOD. the cgi for her costume and everything?? the tenticles??? OH LORD HAVE MERCY IT WAS MAGICAL.

eric.... eh. sorry. i was in love with him as a little child, and this dude was just not my type. </3 however i think it's subjective - like def other people will find him attractive!!

THE SEA. OH LORD. just all of it. the sea imagery. the fireworks. the waves. everything.

i thought the cgi of the animals was sorta strange?? but honestly they made it work i can't lie

OK BUT. THE BOAT SCENE. THE BOAT SCENE. THE LIGHTS. THE MAGIC. IT WAS SO SO BEAUTIFUL. enchanting, seriously.

i really really appreciated ariel being black, even though i'm not black. however i am a WOC so it still spoke to me. just seeing a black girl get to be feminine and girly and cutesie and dressed in those adorable pastel colours. fuck, it killed me. it made me want to cry. i can't imagine how amazing it will feel for black women to see that.

i am going to be honest here -- i was sad we didn't get the dress. i mean the dress. it's iconic?? just like cinderella's blue one, or belle's yellow one??? WHY DIDNT WE GET THE PROPER DRESS???

everything was perfect though. 100% recommend, please go watch it!!

Part of Your World: A Disney Twisted Tale - Liz Braswell

Fun fact: i did not watch any of the Disney classic movies until the last few years and have instantly fallen in love with them. Being so, Disney’s Twisted Tales novels have become a fast favorite for me and Part of Your World was right up there on that list.

This WHAT IF story shows what would happen if Ursula had won at the end of the little mermaid. In the opening chapters, we find Princess Eric and the entire kingdom under a spell with Princess “Vanessa” gathering the army and we find Ariel, voiceless still, sitting on the throne in her father’s place. After hearing from Scuttle, Ariel suspects that her father, who is presumed dead, might actually be alive, she embarks on a journey to rescue him and along the way her one true love!

Truthfully, I really enjoyed this story, as I have enjoyed the previous Twisted Tales novels that I have read in the past, but it was a little bit harder to get into for me. I think I picked the book up about 4 times and put it back on my shelf before finally sticking with it. The beginning of the book felt slow to me and I had a difficult time reading chapters from the perspective of the seagulls. BUT, I am glad that I stuck it out. The scheming, the plot twists, and the vast array of character development (especially from that of the side characters) was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

"What a bastard! I knew that he would make you pay, but it's just too much!" Ron said fervently, after Harry had told him and Hermione, that Snape had punished him by making him drink some disgusting potion that made his throat sore. And because of that, he now had trouble speaking.

"Harry, I think you should..." Hermione began.

"I know, go to a teacher and tell them everything," he interrupted her wearily. The girl blushed. "No, Hermione, I won't give him the satisfaction. He won't break me. I'll handle him myself, I'm not a loser." He had to admit that his lies were getting better and better.

"Harry is right," Ron interjected, supporting his friend. "Snape is just a big jerk. If we start running around and complaining, he'll feel like he has won. And I'd rather choke on a pudding, than allow him to think that!"

"You're both insane!" the girl snorted and jumped up from her place. "I'm going to study," she said proudly, and walked away.

Ron looked at Harry and shook his head.

"But it's Friday. Does she need to study even on Fridays?"

The boy shrugged, looking around the Common Room. For some time, he was trying to spot Ginny, but to his annoyance, she wasn't there. Dinner was about to start, and he needed her help to have an alibi for when he'd be sitting at Snape's place.

Severus wanted Harry to come to him today. Until now they'd only been seeing each other during detentions, but this time, Severus himself had invited him to his chambers. This thought made the boy feel a strange warmth in his stomach.

There she was!

Harry jumped up off the couch, seeing Ginny walk down the stairs. Despite the surprised look he got from Ron, he went up to her and nervously asked for a moment in private. Several of her companions looked at each other with unambiguous smiles and moved ahead.

"What is it, Harry?" the girl asked, as they stopped at a secluded spot nearby.

Harry felt Ron's suspicious gaze on his neck, but he had no choice.

"I'd like to ask you a favor," he whispered.

"What happened to your voice?" She asked, surprised.

"Uh...It's a long story," Harry replied, waving a hand dismissively. He quickly explained his plan to her, and she gladly agreed to help him.

During the whole evening, Ron was watching him suspiciously, but fortunately, didn't ask any questions. At least for now.

At dinner, Harry swallowed almost nothing. His throat was burning horribly and he had the impression, that it had been cut by swords. When his friends reached the common room, he immediately went to the dormitory. He dived in the trunk and pulled out the same black pants which he had worn to Snape's birthday, and the warm, snowy-white sweater he had bought in Hogsmeade during a recent visit. After all, Snape finally invited him. He couldn't go as a ragamuffin.

Harry quickly dressed himself, put his Invisibility Cloak into the pocket and ran down to Ginny, who was waiting for him.

"Harry, you look..." she began.

"...so different," Hermione finished, appearing beside her. "I've never seen you this..."

"...stunning," ended the red-haired girl, smiling with delight.

"Uh..." he mumbled, blushing.

"You are going somewhere together?" Ron suddenly emerged from behind their backs, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

"And why do you care?" Ginny spat as she grabbed Harry's hand and pulled him forward. The redheaded boy opened his mouth to speak, but Hermione grabbed his arm and pulled him the other way.

When Harry and Ginny found themselves in the hall again, they smiled at each other with relief.

"Well, it worked. Now you can meet with your mysterious chosen one," she winked at him. Harry grinned.

"Thank you. We'll meet here again before ten o'clock.."

"Thank you. You helped me escape, too. Ron won't be as agitated if he thinks that I'm with you. Well, see you," she waved and disappeared in the corridor leading to the west tower, which belonged to Ravenclaw.

Harry looked around carefully, then threw the cloak on himself and slipped into the dungeons. Quickly, he crossed the office and before he knocked on the door of Snape's private chambers, he took off his cloak and straightened his hair. However, this only caused the strands to stick out even more.

When he entered the room, Severus was sitting in his chair, staring into the fire. He wasn't working on anything, neither was he reading. Just... waiting.

"For me," the boy realized, and he felt a warm current inside.

teagan jumps out of her seat along with her national teammates. the sounds of cheers and hollers bounce off the walls of their rec room, certainly annoying the other people staying at the hotel. teagan doesn’t care though. she’d cheer for you at any time, during any occasion.

this was a big moment for you. you’d torn your acl during the last olympics and had been working your way back to the level you had been before. you’d spent countless hours rehabbing and training with the goal of getting to paris. blood, sweat and tears had gone into this, and you were finally reaping the benefits.

your girlfriend watches you jump into the arms of your coach, the smile you’re wearing is practically splitting your face in half and turning you red. you’re just so over the moon.

charli claps teagan on the shoulder “that was a seriously impressive routine” she says almsot airily “i can’t believe she can just do that”

“she was worried about that back handspring into the dismount” the goal keeper explains “the mental block was really stressing her out”

“well she’s done it now” hayley speaks up from her spot on the beanbag “and she’s headed off to paris!”

the whole team shouts and cheers again. they all saw what this meant to you after the way your last olympics went, and they were just happy you’d be joining them this year.

“do ya reckon she could teach me how to do a backflip?” kyra says “surely it can’t be that hard if sam does it”

“sam hasn’t done a backflip in forever” steph points out “and she just throws those. i don’t even know if she knows how she does it”

“her ariel ability makes it easier for her to throw them” teagan explains distractedly “the power she gets in her legs, and the momentum she gets from the run up and round-off, makes it a lot easier. especially since she doesn’t tuck her knees, it’s almost like a layout, really”

the team looks kind of shocked at teagan’s analysis of sam’s backflip. steph looks between kyra and hayley, both of whom seem to be even more shocked than her.

teagan looks up at the silence “y/n broke it down for me when she first saw sam do it. gave pointers for me to pass on as well”

the collective “ahhhh” from around the room sounds like a bunch of seagulls and it makes teagan snicker before her phone goes off. she smiles down at it and waves the device “the missus is calling”

“tell her we say congrats and that we love her!” ellie calls as the goalie walks out of the room.

“hey” teagan answers as she shuts the door behind her “we all watched, i’m so proud of you”

you’re beaming on the other end of the facetime, and your eyes glisten with tears “i can’t fucking believe it, teags. i can’t believe i get a second chance”

teagan feels her own eyes begin to well slightly “you deserve it. you deserve it so much”

“we’re going to paris!” you squeal excitedly “i’m so excited”

“me too” she replies as she slides down the wall. she rests her arms on her propped up knees and leans her head back “gonna bring home gold this time around?”

“we both are” you point at the camera “this is our year. no more falling short at the last hurdle”

the determination in your voice is enough to convince teagan that she really can do anything, and that despite the fact that australia are going in as underdogs, there’s every chance that they’ll come out on top.

she nods tearily, matching your determination “no more falling short”
